Matalin (Wife of Carville, Alter Ego of Clintons) Smears Obama

Carville_matalin_large_2Surely it's one of the strangest marriages in modern political history, if not the strangest of all times.

James Carville [photo, left] portrays himself as a middle of the road Democrat with few antipathies toward blacks and other old stalwart constituencies of the party.

He is the Ragin' Cajun who rose to glory and influence over the past decade with the Clintons, first with Bill and then with Hillary as the smoke-spewing partisan in her erstwhile campaign against Barack Obama.

How is it, a reasonable person has to wonder, that Carville can go home at night and have a sensible, dispassionate conversation (that is to say, without f and other words) with his wife, Mary Jo Matalin [photo, right].

Matalin, you will know, is the Republican strategist who was adviser and buddy to our (the word makes us choke) vice president (we feel a need to use the lower cases) Dick Cheney, architect of the Iraq war and who-knows-what-other catastrophies that are combining now to wreck our economy and society.

Matalin is a force behind the new book that is trying to do to Obama what the Swift Board campaign did to the Democratic candidate John Kerry four years ago, drown him.

The book, "The Obama Nation," scurrilously raises suspicions about all manner of drug use by Obama. It hints also that Obama may be a Muslim.

And get this: Matalin is the head of Threshold Editions, the Simon & Schuster division that is publishing  "The  Obama Nation."

Here is what Matalin has to say about the book that has been trashed by every self respecting editorial write. She calls it "a piece of scholarship, and a good one at that."

Wow.

(See earlier BrooklynRon post on Matalin and Carville.)

Comments

That was a really good catch, about the title.

Thanks.

Ron

The title of the book is a smear, because it is a play on words. Read the title fast and you get "THE ABOMINATION" referring to the election of a Black Man to President.
