Al Vann took a serious blow this past week when Charles Barron and the Rev. Al Sharpton announced they were supporting Vann's challenger, activist Mark Griffith.
Here in a BrooklynRon video shot after that announcement, Vann says he has taken many blows from Griffith backers.
But at the end of the video session, in a moment that actually was quite tender, he says he has represented his district with love and respect; and, he argued, he has not been accused of corruption.
Not having been accused of corruption, after 35 years in elective office, is quite an accomplishment for a black politician these days, he said.
(P.S. I hope to run, within hours, other videos I shot with both Vann and Griffith.)
(P.P.S. Here are links from earlier this week on the political battle in the 36th Councilmanic District: Audio of Charles Barron endorsing Griffith; quick video of Vann turning his back on Barron and Sharpton at City Hall.)
