Amor “Lilman” Arteaga, who's a nine-year-old rapper and lives near us, is featured in the New York Daily News today for this video he did urging -- pleading with -- young men not to wear their pants hanging
down their butts.
Using rhyme, Lilman cites arguments we've heard already in the city. But he does it with rappin' flair.
He in effect says of the drooping pants style:
that it looks ridiculous;
that it'll cause you all kinds of problems with muscular pedophiles;
that it's unsanitary;
and that you'll never get a decent job dressed that way.
Regarding that last point, about jobs. It could be, of course, that your dream of becoming Jay Z one day comes true. But a serious word of advice: Don't expect to be able to take those dreams to the bank for cash yet.
In making his appeal, Lilman is teaming up with Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz, who shows spunk here by taking this position.
