It's rare that BrooklynRon puts his photo on the site, but what the heck.
Today Tony Aiello of CBS News (Channel 2) interviewed yours truly about the record-breaking brownstone sale at 333 MacDonough St. in Bedford Stuyvesant.
The home went for $1.34 million.
High as that might seem, many Bed-Stuy residents must be thinking, So, what else is new.
I heard from a local realtor recently that one house nearby went for a million bucks -- and the purchaser paid it all in cash!
The concern I have is for people on the other end of this trend, the long-time residents being priced out -- because landlords keep pushing up rents or because the city boosts appraisals, and therefore taxes, and (through the Buildings Department and Transportation Department) slaps hefty fines on retiree/homeowners for minor violations, like slightly cracked sidewalks.
This is a topic, of course, that will be around a good while.
Aiello, in one afternoon, did a great job.
