This shows how Brooklyn stands out among New York City's boroughs for its loss of residents who decide to leave and settle elsewhere in the United States.
Queens is up there with Brooklyn in continuing to attract immigrants from around the world - Asians and Latinos especially, who are still moving into Queens from their native countries; and West Indians, Asians, Russians and others who are setting up in Brooklyn. It's evident from living in Brooklyn that many of the foreign newcomers are from France and England.
But it's the out-migration that's especially striking. It's a "domestic" outmigration and city dwellers understand the reasons very well. Those leaving can no longer take the zooming costs of housing and other necessities of life.
