Two of Brooklyn's Congress members, Yvette Clarke and Edolphus Towns (photo), signed on earlier this year to a bill calling for the impeachment of Vice President Dick Cheney, for deceiving the American people into a war that seems to have no end.
How is it that those two very members, along with all other members of the Brooklyn and New York City Congressional delegation, have signed on also with Sen. Hillary Clinton, in her bid to be the Democratic candidate for president?
To wit, please see this message passed on by a tried and true colleague regarding an updated impeachment effort.
There seems to be a certain wishy-washiness here, because Clinton has been the most lukewarm of the candidates in her actions regarding the Iraq war; and she's supported Bush and Cheney at critical junctures.
Nevertheless, let's assume the best and hope that our on-the-record-for-impeachment Congress members will be with the current effort to bring the veep up on charges of deceiving and gravely harming the very American people whom he was supposed to be protecting.
Says the colleague, Dave Lindorff: "On Friday, December 14, (Florida Congress member Robert) Wexler launched www.WexlerWantsHearings.com and asked Americans to join his efforts to convince Congress to hold impeachment hearings.
"As of 2:30 PM on Saturday 36,000 people have signed."
Dave says the goal is to have half a million people sign the online petition by Monday, December 17. See Dave's website at http://www.thiscantbehappening.net.
The new impeachment bill was introduced by the same Democratic candidate, Dennis Kucinich, who authored the first one.
He has been a thousand time more outspoken on the war issue than Hillary and perhaps event those who are formally backing Clinton may be willing to back this effort.
