Next Wednesday (April 15th), some of the nation's best journalists will be discussing whether the American press is missing the real story when it comes to politics and finance.
The event, sponsored by Long Island University, is a chance for the public to see and hear the recent winners of the prestigious George Polk Awards, given annually by LIU.
Awards are granted based on, among other things, "resourcefulness and courage in reporting, skill in relating the story and the impact of the coverage."
The moderator for the annual Polk Awards Seminar will be Alex Jones, Director of the Shorenstein Center at the John F. Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University.
Date is Wednesday, April 15; time is 5.30-6.30 p.m. (for the reception) and 6.30-8.00 p.m. (for the discussion). Place is the Kumble Theater for the Performing Arts at Long Island University’s Brooklyn Campus, at DeKalb Avenue and Flatbush Avenue Extension, Brooklyn, NY
