Issac Chauncey - No Slavery Ties

Chauncey Street is named after Issac Chauncey (born February 20, 1779, in Black Rock, Conn., died January 27, 1840) who was a Lieutenant in the United States Navy. His most outstanding service was during the War of 1812 when he commanded naval forces on Lake Ontario, conducting amphibious operations in cooperation with the Army, and containing the large British squadron stationed there.
